Our Caring Staff

Once you request the services of Hughes-Ransom Mortuary in Astoria or Seaside, Oregon, we will immediately put our experienced funeral professionals to work for you. A single, dedicated individual will stay in contact with you every step of the way and guide you through the decision-making process. He or she will carefully explain your options, make recommendations at your request, take care of all the small details, and ensure that you and your family’s personal touch is always present. We have years of experience servicing families, from all walks of life. Each family comes to us because they know we are leaders in our profession, dedicated to excellence in care, and have the highest integrity.

Eric Anderson attended Concordia College in Moorhead, MN. after graduating from Fosston High. He ultimately graduated from University of Minnesota with a degree in Mortuary Science. 



Eric has been a licensed funeral professional since 1995, and moved to the Oregon area soon after, working in Eugene, Springfield, and later Astoria. He worked for and later purchased Hughes-Ransom Mortuaries in 2018, and took over ownership of Penttila’s Chapel in 2020, moving to live full time in Long Beach. In January of 2022, he added  Bayview Funeral Home in Raymond. 


He has 2 daughters, Olivia, 22, and Bella, 25, and a son, Drew, 26. He and his partner Tarah enjoy all of the outdoor activities of the PNW, and look forward to integrating into the community.

Charlotte is our Grief Support Specialist and provides compassionate and respectful grief support for the families we serve. 

She is a Clinical Social Work Associate (CSWA) and is dedicated to supporting individuals navigate the often unknown territory of grief and loss.

Prior to joining the Hughes Ransom team, she worked as a medical social worker in hospitals, home health, hospice, and bereavement services.  

In her free time, she enjoys going on hikes with her pup, Bingo.
