Earl "Rocky" Whelden

Earl M. Whelden (Rocky) passed away at the age of 85 on December 5, 2013, at Cascade Park Retirement in Woodburn, OR. He was born February 21, 1928, in Spokane, WA. He is preceded in death by his wife Geraldine, son Michael and daughter Peggie. He is survived by 11 children, 39 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren and brother Don Whelden of Gladstone. He was a concrete finisher and a member of Local Union #555 for many years. After he moved to Knappa, OR, he taught concrete finishing at Tongue Point Job Corps in Astoria, OR. He was a member and deacon at Westport Community Church. He will be deeply missed by family and many friends. Graveside services will be at Prairie Cemetery, Knappa Dock Rd., Astoria OR 97103 at 12:00 p.m. Saturday, December 14, 2013, and a memorial service following at Westport Community Church, 49246 Hwy 30, Westport, OR 97016.
