Hazelle Long, 90, of Seaside, died Wednesday, Sep 12, 2012 in Seaside.
She was born Aug 14, 1922 in Castleton, ND to Charles and Emilie (Hoff) Palmer. On June 15, 1939 she married Lewis Long in Moorehead, MN. He preceded her in death in 2007.
Mrs. Long was the owner of Davy Jones Locker in Astoria in the early to late 1950's. Family members said she was always there and was well liked by everyone on that end of town. She loved going to Suomi Hall and dancing with everyone. She used to get away from the restaurant and run across the street for a break and do the jitter bug. Hazelle and her husband sold the restaurant in late 1957 and moved to California. Returning in 1975, they bought the Crab Pot restaurant and were there until 1980, when it was sold. She retired in 1998. The couple then moved to Florida, where she remained until July, when she returned to be with family.
Hazelle is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Marcia Long of Gearhart; a daughter, LeeAnne Lubrano of Simi Valley, CA; six grandchildren, Ronald Long of Palm Springs, CA, S. Chisum Long and his wife, Lynda, of Warrenton, Matthew Long and his wife, Elisa of Seaside, S. Christine Alleman and her husband, Rob of Irvine, CA, R. Amber Ramsey and her husband, Richard, of West Point, MS, and Angela Barr and her husband, Chris of Santa Ana, CA; three stepgrandchildren, Jennifer Moes of Seaside, Melissa Brady and her husband, John of Astoria and Chris Moes and his wife Medina of St. Helens; eighteen great-grandchildren; two brothers, Charles Palmer of Los Angeles, CA and Al Palmer of Fargo, ND, and a sister, May Malouf of Sequim, WA.
At her request, no service was held.
