James Patrick Phillips

January 21, 1938 — August 27, 2017

James Patrick (Pat) Phillips, age 79, peacefully passed away on August 26, 2017, in his beloved hometown of Seaside Oregon. Pat was born January 21, 1938 to John Phillips and Marguerite Blake Phillips. His first years were spent in Milwaukie, Oregon, but he moved to Seaside when he was very young. His parents owned the Phillips Candies candy store and he grew up immersed in the candy business. In High School, Pat was a member of the 1956 Connie Mack Pacific Coast World Series Champion team Seaside Post 99. He attended the Oregon State University and was a member of Phi Delta Theta fraternity. After graduating, he worked for Staley Foods and Phillips Candies. He moved to Southern California in the early 1970s and worked for Doumak Corporation and eventually became Production Manager at See's Candies. He returned to Seaside in 1988 and worked in Real Estate and eventually ended his career working at Phillips Candies. Pat is survived by his brother and sister-in law, Steve and Dana Phillips, son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Paula Phillips, daughter and son-in law, Jodie and Jim Muller, and grandchildren, Amanda, Charlie, Justin, Jillian, Cole, Seth, and Rhys. Over the years Pat was involved with many community and civic organizations, including the City of Seaside Planning Commission and Seaside Kids. The family will respect Pat's wishes of not having a funeral or remembrance. Donations can be made in his name to Seaside Kids Inc., PO Box 275, Seaside, OR 97138.
