Jimmie Ferris "Jim" Gandy, 70, of Warrenton, died Friday, Dec. 14, 2012, in Astoria.
He was born June 2, 1942, in Escondido, Calif., to James Burke Gandy and Isbelle (Justice) Neomia.
He attended Hood River High School.
For four years he served in the U.S. Navy, where he received his GED.
In 1960, he married Davy Jean Shewonomeda. She preceded him in death.
In 1966, he married Donna Rae Abernathy, who survives. They later divorced.
In 1970, he married Ginnie Carol Metcalf, who survives. They later divorced.
In 1974, he married Sonya Ann Swenson in Seaside. She survives. They later divorced.
Mr. Gandy was a marine machinist by trade, and worked in Alaska for many years. He also worked as a logger/faller, log truck driver, scuba diver, cook, fruit picker and fisherman. He retired in 2004.
He was past commander of American Legion Post 22 and also a member of Clatsop Post 12 American Legion, the Moose Lodge, National Rifle Association, Elks, Scuba Divers Association, Sheriffs Association and a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 15038.
Family members said he enjoyed fishing, hunting, clam digging, scuba diving, cards, traveling, cribbage, cooking, horse shoes, mushroom picking, animals, gold panning, metal detecting, his reloader, music, bowling and pool.
He is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, James "Robin" Gandy of Vancouver, Wash., and Stanwood B and Tami R. Gandy of Seaside; three daughters, Gloria Michelle Gandy of Bend, Gayla Marie Black of Hillsboro and Gena Marie Endicott of Spanaway, Wash.; a brother and sister-in-law, Kenneth and Roni Gandy of Centerville, Wash.; a sister and brother-in-law, Corline and Nate Nichols of East Wenatchee, Wash.; seven grandchildren, Thomas Gandy of Florida, Jimmy Tye Gandy of Dundee, Shanelle RaeAnn Black of Hillsboro, Krista Lynn Chapman of Bend, Logan Patrick Gandy of Seaside, Talena Marie Gandy of Boston and Mohagani Lishelle Townsend of Spanaway; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Teresa Gandy.
A celebration of life will be held in the spring.
