Carol Lynn Vanderford (née Chrisman), 74, of Cannon Beach, Oregon, passed away peacefully at home on September 19, 2026, surrounded by her family and loved ones.
Born on February 6, 1952, in Glendale, California, Carol was the daughter of Charles Sanford Chrisman Jr. and Elizabeth Ann (Clark) Chrisman. She graduated from Niceville High School in Niceville, Florida, and went on to earn both a bachelor's and a master's degree from George Fox University.
Carol made her home in Cannon Beach, where she enjoyed her work in hospitality at Cannon Beach Property Management. She felt a strong connection to the Cannon Beach community and treasured her many friendships. An avid surfer, she continued to get out in the water as often as she could until the end of her life. She also loved writing and gardening. Those who knew her will remember her passion for life, her endless curiosity, her joyful exuberance, and the care she showed everyone she met.
She is survived by her mother, Elizabeth Chrisman; her daughter and son-in-law, Cheryl (Vanderford) and Dieter Schaefer; her son, Matthew Howard Vanderford; her son and partner, Brian Charles Vanderford and Celia Mason; her brother, David Chrisman, and his wife, Jenny; her grandchildren Derek Schaefer, Avery Schaefer, Henry Schaefer, Matthew Vanderford II, Blake Vanderford, Jordan Vanderford, and Scarlett Vanderford; and nieces, nephew, and extended family. She was preceded in death by her father, Charles Sanford Chrisman Jr., and her grandson, Parker Vanderford.
A celebration of life paddle out will be held in her honor in the spring of 2027 at Indian Beach. Date and time to be announced.
