Frances Ruth Melhoff

Fran was born to Richard and Ruth (Galer) Schoenborn in Astoria, Oregon on February 19, 1938. Fran passed away on September 7, 2017 in Wheeler, Oregon. She is pre-deceased by her parents and her brother Ted. Fran was raised in Gearhart, graduating Seaside Union High School in 1956. She received her Bachelor of Science degree from Portland State College in 1962. She later received her teaching degree. Frans' teaching career started and ended in the Seaside School District. She taught in the elementary grades, beginning in Gearhart and ended at Seaside Heights. Over the years, Fran taught many local students as well as some of their children. She even managed to teach some students twice, but in different grades. Fran Schoenborn was lucky enough to have met the love of her life, Lester Melhoff. They were married in Seaside in October 1971. They would have celebrated their 46th wedding anniversary next month. Fran is survived by her husband, Les, cousins, nieces, and nephews, all too numerous to mention. A service will take place on Thursday, September 14, 2017, 1:00pm at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church, 320 1st Avenue, Seaside, Oregon with a reception to follow at the church. Private internment at Ocean View Cemetery will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please contribute to your favorite charity. Frances will be smiling down when she sees her family and friends wearing purple, her favorite color.
