Herbert Lee Thompson

Herbert "Herb" Lee Thompson of Seaside passed away Friday, December 6, 2013. He was 64. Herb was born March 9, 1949 to Norm and Ellen (Sandquist) Thompson in Lebanon, Oregon. He attended St. Helens High School most of his high school tenure, but graduated from high school in Reedsport, Oregon. Herb married Susan Loe on November 29, 1968 in St. Helens, Oregon. They later moved to Seaside were they have lived for the past 32 years. Herb was a small business owner, a truck driver and the BEST grandpa ever. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, spending time with family, motivating people and restoring salmon habitat through his creation of the Coho Sanctuary on his property in Seaside. Herb his survived by his wife Susan of Seaside; son Byren and daughter-in-law Tracy Thompson of Seaside; son Branden and daughter-in-law Chris Thompson of Newberg; six grandchildren, Hunter, Duncan, Ruger and Kinsley Thompson of Seaside, Palmer and Jack Thompson of Newberg; his mother Ellen Thompson of St. Helens; Brothers William and Robert Thompson of St. Helens; Sister Alice Bair of Prineville; and brother Dale Thompson of Condon. Herb is preceded in death by his father Norm Thompson. A memorial service will be held Monday December 16, 2013 from 2:00 to 5:00 pm at the Seaside American Legion. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Herb Thompson Estate at any US Bank branch.
