Janet Louise Stewart was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and a lifelong member of the Seaside and Gearhart community. Born on May 24, 1945, she was the daughter of George and Donna Ordway and remained deeply connected to her family and hometown throughout her life.
Jan is survived by her sons, John Corey Osburn (wife Michelle) and George Ryan Osburn (wife Melanie); her granddaughters, Rahlie Mae Osburn and Allie Evans; her grandchildren, Ashley Beaudoin, Jacob Bassett, and Jackson Bassett; and her great-grandchildren, Tenley Evans and Walker Beaudoin. Jan remained very close to her cousins Marlene and Karen, as well as her many extended Ordway and Osburn family members and dear friends.
A true local, Jan had a deep love for Seaside and Gearhart. In 1963, she was honored as Miss Seaside and served as the official hostess of the Miss Oregon Pageant.
Jan married Jim Osburn in 1965, and their wedding reception became a well-remembered local story when a fire broke out at the historic Hotel Gearhart, with wedding guests helping the fire department during the blaze. Later, Jan married Bob Stewart, with whom she shared many years until his passing.
An entrepreneur at heart, Jan operated Gearhart Stables alongside her sons Corey and Ryan, with the help of cousins David and Katie Osburn. She and her two sons also started and ran a rock quarry for several years before selling the business. Jan also owned and ran Bud’s Drive-In with Jim. She had a lifelong love for animals, especially her family dogs, and was known for her strong work ethic, generosity, and fierce loyalty to those she loved.
Jan was deeply devoted to her friends and a protector of her extended Osburn family. She will be remembered for her warmth and the lasting impact she had on everyone fortunate enough to know her.
She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
