Jane Evelyn Johnson (Lohrke), a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on April 11, 2025, in Portland, Oregon, after a brave battle with cancer. She was 64 years old, born Jane Lohrke on August 15, 1960, in Coos Bay, Oregon, and spent her life bringing warmth, kindness, and creativity to everyone she met. She had called Seaside, Oregon, home for many years.
Jane is survived by her loving husband, Larry Johnson; her two sons, Jeremy Bubar (Amy) of Las Vegas, NV, and Anthony Bubar Sr. of St. Helens, Oregon. She was a proud grandmother to Jesse (Mikayla), Mariah, Nathan, Tyler, and AJ Jr., and cherished her role as a great- grandmother to Colter and Charlie, who brought her immense joy.
She is also survived by her siblings: Edith Young (Marvin), Clarinda Clark, and Frank Lohrke (Linda), along with several nieces, nephews, and extended family members. Jane’s family was her pride and joy, and she leaves behind a legacy of love, devotion, and compassion.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jane Heikkila and Frank Lohrke, and her brothers Vernon Hammond and Edwin Hammond.
Jane was known for her incredible talent in crocheting, quilting, and needlepoint, which she enjoyed both as a hobby and as a way to give back to her community. She also loved setting up and organizing family reunions, always making sure everyone felt welcome and connected. She had a heart full of generosity and was always ready to lend a hand or a listening ear to those in need.
Jane was also a proud advocate for cancer awareness and participated in Relay for Life events, passionately supporting others affected by the disease.
A strong and resilient woman, Jane faced cancer three times. The first and second time, she courageously beat the disease, showing the strength and perseverance that defined her. Sadly, the third battle took her from us, but her spirit, strength, and love will continue to inspire everyone who knew her.
A celebration of Jane’s life will be held on May 17, 2025, at Bob Chisholm Community Center in Seaside, Oregon from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm, where friends and family will gather to honor her memory and celebrate the beautiful person she was.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Jane’s GoFundMe page on her Facebook. If you plan to join us for the celebration of life, we invite you to bring a side dish or food to share in her honor, as Jane always loved bringing people together over a good meal.
Jane will be deeply missed by all who knew her, but her spirit will remain with her loved ones forever.
