Lawrence Francis Morse

Lawrence Francis Morse, of McMinnville, OR, Born March 18, 1947 in California to Lloyd and Edna Morse. He grew up in West Covina California where he helped with the family nursery, Morse Gardens, before moving with his family to McMinnville Oregon in 1964. Larry graduated from McMinnville High School in 1965 and after high school he enlisted in the United States Coast Guard, serving from 1965 to 1969 and was stationed in Seattle, Washington as well as Coos Bay and Garibaldi, Oregon. After his enlistment, Larry return to McMinnville where he married his wife Christine. In 1982 Larry began working for ODOT at both the Tillamook and Astoria offices before retiring in 2002. Throughout the years Larry also worked in law-enforcement, having been a reserve for Yamhill County Sheriff's Department, a Special Officer for Astoria Police Department, a member of Clatsop County Search and Rescue and the Security Guard for Ram Security at Camp Rilea. Larry return to the McMinnville area in 2009 and through his wife's vision challenges Larry became involved with the National Federation of the Blind of Oregon as not only an active member, but also helping with administrative duties. And in 2016 Larry joined the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary as a Member of Flotilla 66. Over the years Larry enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping and love to travel to mention a few before passing away on May 2, 2017 while at home with his family around him. He was preceded in death by his parents Lloyd and Edna Morris, daughter; Dawn, and granddaughter; Britney. Larry is survived by his wife; Christine, daughter; Ginger, and granddaughter; Cheyenne. A Memorial Service will be held on May 16, 2017 at 2:00 PM at Hughes-Ransom Mortuary in Astoria Oregon. A Celebration of Life potluck will be held at 10:00 AM on June 1, 2017 at Granville Park in McMinnville, Oregon. In lieu of flowers it was Larry's wish that donations be made to the National Federation of the Blind of Oregon. Hughes-Ransom Mortuary & Crematory in Seaside is in charge of arrangements.
