Leon Chris Begleries

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of our brother, Leon Chris Begleries. He was born June 30, 1946, in Astoria, Oregon. Leon died on May 14 of natural causes, just before his 80th birthday. He grew up in Clifton, Oregon, and moved to Astoria when in high school. He attended the University of Oregon for a short time. Leon lived in Portland, Oregon, for most of his life, with time spent in Las Vegas, Nevada, and later returned to Astoria. He attended both Knappa and Astoria schools. Leon never met a stranger. He left a lasting impression on all who met him and was a loyal friend, cousin, and brother. He is survived by his siblings, Marie Begleries, Chris Begleries, Linda Begleries-Eliott (Drew Eliott), Alexis Begleries, Nick Begleries (Sally Baker), Leah Robbins, and Val Robbins; his devoted cousin Nikki Bloch (Bob Bloch); nieces Kayla Eliott and Chelsea Eliott; and nephews Eliyas Begleries and Godson Shawn (Monica) Karamelas. He was preceded in death by his father, Nick Begleries; mother, Billie Robbins; stepmother, Barbara Begleries; beloved aunt Laura Housseas; and cousin Grace Ann Sampson. 

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 12, 2026, at Hughes Ransom Mortuary in Astoria, Oregon. A brief burial service at Oceanview Cemetery will be followed by a reception at The Loft in Astoria at 1:30 p.m.
