Paul Dennis "Denny" Thompson Jr., 87, of Astoria, died Saturday, Oct. 20, 2012, at home.
He was born Dec. 15, 1924, in Astoria, to Paul Dennis Thompson Sr. and Maria (Seppala) Thompson.
He graduated from Astoria High School.
He served for two years as a pilot in the U.S. Army Air Corps.
On June 11, 1950, he married Frankye Adair Dean in Astoria. â€ˆShe survives, residing in Astoria.
Mr. Thompson was the former co-owner, with his brother Dick Thompson, of Astoria Granite Works.
He was a member of the Elks Lodge, Astoria Golf & Country Club and the United Finnish Kaleva Lodge. He served as vice consul general to Finland.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Lisa Stevenson and her husband, Tom, of Winlock, Wash., and Greta Sangder and her husband, Randy, of Eugene; five grandchildren, Emily Sangder of Eugene, Kelly Silva and her husband, Trask, of St. Maries, Idaho, Kate Ivy and her husband, Justin, of Seattle, John Stevenson and his wife, Joni, of Cascade, Idaho, and Brandy Swift and her husband, Cameron, of Tacoma, Wash.; and four great-grandchildren, Presley and Dane Swift of Tacoma, Finnegan Ivy of Seattle, Kasen Brooke Silva of St. Maries and one sister, Ivy Stacy of Portland.
He was preceded in death by a son, Paul Dennis "Casey" Thompson III.
A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 26, at Ocean View Cemetery in Warrenton. Following the service, there will be a reception at Astoria Golf and Country Club, 33445 Sunset Beach Lane, Warrenton, Oregon.
