Randy Gene Buckman, a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully in the early morning of February 14, 2026. Born on May 13, 1959, in Oakland, California, Randy was the beloved son of Walter Buckman and Thelma Buckman (Osborn). He was one of six children, sharing a close bond with his siblings, Jerry, Dennis, William (Butch), Johnny, and his sister Geraldine.
Frequent moves across the United States marked Randy's early years due to his father's work, which gave him a broad and varied experience of life. In his teenage years, Randy split his time between California and Astoria, eventually settling down in Astoria, where he built a fulfilling life.
In his twenties, Randy married his beloved wife, Yvonne, with whom he shared 43 wonderful years of marriage. Together, they raised two children, Blake and Eileen (affectionately known as Prissy). Randy was a dedicated and loving father, always putting his family first.
An outdoorsman at heart, Randy found joy in camping, fishing, hiking, and spending time in nature. His love for animals was evident throughout his life as he cared for many pets who brought him happiness. Professionally, Randy worked primarily as a house painter. He also engaged in seasonal work and held a position at Bio Oregon for many years, demonstrating his strong work ethic and commitment.
One of Randy's greatest blessings was becoming a grandfather in his forties, a role he embraced with immense love and devotion. He was an ever-present figure in the lives of his grandchildren, Rogelio and Alejandra (Hana), attending every school function and sporting event. His attentive and unwavering presence was a testament to the deep affection he held for his family.
In 2022, Randy experienced the profound loss of his wife, Yvonne. During his final years, he bravely faced several health challenges and was lovingly cared for by his children, Blake and Eileen.
Randy is preceded in death by his wife, Yvonne, his parents, Walter and Thelma Buckman, and his brothers Butch and Johnny. He is survived by his siblings Jerry, Dennis, and Geraldine, as well as many cousins, nieces, and nephews who were dear to him. His enduring legacy of love, dedication, and kindness will be treasured by all who knew him
