Sandra Charlene Francis

Sandra Charlene Francis of Astoria passed away at home after a lengthy illness on July 30, 2013. She was 57.
Sandra was born September 29, 1955, in Seattle, WA, to Willis Donald and Marian (Radach) Stultz. She graduated from Knappa High School and was active in the Knappa Trail Blazers 4-H in competitions and in the horse division. She belonged to the National Morgan Horse Association and won many first-place awards. Sandra was the first person to receive a medal on the West Coast in the Youth Division.
Through the years Sandra worked and traveled extensively in Alaska. She loved reading, gardening and working with horses. She entered many of her flowers, baking goods and vegetables into the Clatsop County Fair and won ribbons.
She is survived by her brother Carl Stultz, and her mother Marian Stultz, both of Knappa, Oregon.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Larry Francis.
In more recent years, Sandra helped with the family horse business and volunteered with the Svensen senior luncheons. Her pride and joy was her dog Gretchen.
Sandra was planning to be married to Jim Vaughan of Astoria.
A funeral service will be held at Hughes-Ransom Mortuary in Astoria on August 10, 2013, at 1:00 p.m., with a reception to follow at the funeral home. Interment will follow services at Knappa Prairie Cemetery.
